Who is presenter Sophie Morgan?

SOPHIE Morgan is best known for her work as a media personality.

She is the official host for the Channel 4 coverage of Crufts 2023. Here’s what we know about her.

Who is Sophie Morgan?

Sophie Morgan was born on February 24, 1985.

She is a TV presenter born near Crowborough, East Sussex, to a wealthy family.

She was educated in South Croydon and subsequently in Moray in Scotland.

The TV star has fought to provide representation for disabled people.

As well as working in TV Sophie invented the Mannequal which is a wheelchair for mannequins in clothing shops.


What accident was Sophie Morgan in?

At the age of 18, just after receiving her A-level results, Sophie crashed a car carrying four friends while driving between parties in Elgin, Scotland.

Her friends received minor injuries but Sophie was trapped under the overturned car and ended up with a fractured back, nose and skull.

Sophie has put the accident down to her dangerous driving and the fact she’d passed her test six months before, commenting: “I wasn’t drunk, I was just driving like an idiot.”


Since then, the telly host – who studied art after ditching her plan to study law – has been paralysed from the ribs down.

The injury has left her in a wheelchair, and she spent two years recovering from an ulcer too – as she couldn’t feel a pub bench splinter entering her body.

What TV shows has Sophie Morgan been in?

Nine months after her accident Sophie took part in BBC Two‘s show Beyond Boundaries which following 11 disabled people on a 220-mile trek across Nicaragua.

Sophie got amboebic dysentry in the jungle and couldn’t complete the trip.

Four years later she took part in Britain’s Missing Top Model, the reality TV search for a disabled model – and came runner-up to Kelly Knox.

She also modelled Stella McCartney designs for Adidas in 2012.

Other shows she’s hosted include Licence To Kill about road safety, The World’s Worst Place To Be Disabled? which saw her travel to Ghana and has also reported for Horizon, The One Show and Channel 4 News.

For the 2012 and 2016 Paralympics Sophie was one of Channel 4’s main sports presenters – as well as featuring on The Superhuman Show with Alex Brooker, and presenting coverage of the IPC Swimming European Championships.

In 2021, she was a lead presenter for Channel 4’s TV coverage of the Summer Paralympics in Tokyo.

In 2022, Sophie was the Crufts presenter for Channel 4’s coverage of the competition and she will also be leading the coverage in 2023.

Is Sophie Morgan married and does she have children?

Sophie isn’t married with kids, but she is in a relationship.

She has a boyfriend called Tom who is an acupuncturist.

Sophie has spoken candidly about their sex life, saying it took Tom by surprise that she is still able to enjoy an intimate relationship despite having no feeling below the waist.
