Netflix fans left ‘too scared to sleep’ and ‘scarred for life’ by new horror The Strays – warning ‘don’t watch it!’
THE latest addition to Netflix’s roster of shows has left viewers horrified – with some labelling it the ‘scariest film of 2023’ and that they’re ‘scarred for life.’
The Strays, currently on Netflix, follows a mixed-race woman, Neve, who has crafted a seemingly perfect life for herself in a middle-class predominantly white suburb in the UK.

But her bubble is burst when she starts seeing things that may not be there and is fearful something or someone from her past is returning to haunt her.
It’s not long before two strangers appear in her life, infiltrating every part of her world with ambitions to ruin everything she’s fought so hard to create.
When the truth is revealed, there are serious consequences for anyone who has been caught up in Neve’s web of deceit and lies.
The film has had such an impact on viewers, it’s been compared to Jordan Peele’s 2017 psychological horror Get Out.
One fan warned: “If you’re trying to sleep well tonight, don’t watch The Strays right before bed.”
Another added: “Just finished watching The Strays on Netflix and I think I’m scarred for life, because what the hell did I just watch?”
Others dubbed it “insane” and “hilariously dark.”
While it’s a psychological thriller, the plot also circulates around the idea of race with Neve appearing to reject her racial identity as a black woman.
Director Nathaniel Martello-White said he wanted to portray the concept of “code-switching.”
He explained: “[This term is when] a member of an underrepresented group adjusts their language, syntax, grammatical structure, behaviour and appearance to fit into the dominant culture.”
The Strays is available to stream of Netflix now.
