Chelsea contract rebel Mason Mount ‘increasingly likely’ to complete Liverpool transfer in summer window

LIVERPOOL are interested in signing Chelsea contract rebel Mason Mount in the summer, according to reports.

And the Reds are growing increasingly confident about landing the England star as the impasse over his contract talks continue.

Mount, 24, is out of contract in 2024 but negotiations with Chelsea have hit a snag over his wage demands.

The academy graduate is believed to earn around £80,000 a week but he wants he to be one of the highest earners in the squad.

And his refusal to put pen to paper could force Chelsea to sell this summer to avoid losing him on a free.

Manchester City and Manchester United are both said to be interested in the midfielder but Liverpool are leading the race to sign him, according to talkSPORT.

The report even states sources close to Mount claim a move to Anfield is “highly likely”.

But negotiations between Chelsea and Mount are set to continue with manager Graham Potter hopeful of an agreement.

He said: “I think it’s always complicated, there is always negotiation.

“It’s best I leave it between Mason and the club, that is the best way for that to be dealt with as far as I’m concerned. He’s been fantastic to work with, an important player for us, and of course, I hope it gets resolved quickly.”
