All 190 passengers plus crew are currently safe at Falcone e Borsellino Airport in the popular holiday destination of Sicily.

The airport’s airspace has been closed over the threat

The entire airport airspace, close to Sicily’s capital, was closed and all other arriving flights were diverted to other Sicilian airports.

Police, security, firefighters and bomb experts quickly arrived on the scene and checked the Ryanair plane and all of its luggage.

The bomb alarm was triggered as the plane came into land.
