But, he was said to be “resisting” the move.
Now Andrew is said to be demanding a mansion, while pleading for a “big role”.
But insiders say the King has different ideas.
One source told The Mirror: “Andrew is insisting on having a job despite being made to stand down from his duties and now he’s being kicked out of his home.
“He’s of the opinion that he is still a senior member of the family, despite not being a working royal and deserves to be treated as such.
“He is prepared to take on the responsibility of a big role running an estate and still thinks he is far too young to retire.
“However, the King certainly has a wildly different view to that of his brother and has told him straight, there is no chance of that happening.”
And, Andrew is said to be “digging his heels in” when it comes to his £30million mansion.
The 63-year-old allegedly doesn’t want to downsize from the Royal Lodge in Windsor, which he has called home for more than 20 years.
While Andrew has signed a 75-year lease on the property he still fears he could be kicked out.
The royal residence boasts stunning interiors and plenty of space for entertaining – with both Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie able to hold their wedding receptions there.
It sits within 21 acres of secluded gardens and boasts an eye-catching white exterior.
It is understood Andrew is “resolute” he wants to remain at Royal Lodge, which he shares with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
However Charles plans to axe the £250,000-a-year royal handout his brother pocketed from his mother in a huge shake-up of funding.
Andrew also paid millions to his sex-abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre in an out-of-court deal.
He will also have to splash out on the 31-room mansion’s upkeep.
However, it is believed he has not yet accepted the offer to move.
But it’s now been revealed the Duke could be forced out of their home due to serious damp problem.
The Sun has approached Prince Andrew for comment.
Meanwhile, the Duke’s ex wife Sarah Ferguson has revealed she understands why Harry chose to pack up his life and move to the US.
The Duchess of York, 63, explained that’s because when she was living in America, she felt free.
