Ellie made the confession while joking with her sister and Gogglebox co-star Izzi about The Apprentice.

As the girls settled down to watch the BBC programme, she said: “Alan Sugar is my only sugar fix now I have got gestational diabetes.”

The NHS states that gestational diabetes is high blood sugar (glucose) that develops during pregnancy.

It can happen at any stage of pregnancy, but is more common in the second or third trimester, and usually disappears after birth.

Symptoms can include an increased thirst, blurred eyesight and the urge to urinate more than usual.

The condition is taken very seriously, as it can lead to premature birth, pre-eclampsia and jaundice in newborns.

Pregnant women with gestational diabetes can help by changing their diet and exercising gently. They are also monitored more closely and can take medication to lower bloody sugar levels if necessary.

Earlier this month, the Gogglebox favourite confirmed they are having a little boy.

It was the first time Ellie had revealed the gender of her baby since announcing her pregnancy on the show in December.
