Nine arrested after student, 19, stabbed to death outside University of Northampton’s campus

NINE people have now been arrested after a student was stabbed to death outside the University of Northampton’s campus.

Cops rushed to the scene on New South Bridge Road following reports of a stabbing around 8.40pm on Sunday.

They discovered a teenager with serious injuries and despite best efforts by paramedics, he tragically died at the scene.

The 19-year-old victim has now been identified as Kwabena Osei-Poku.

Kwabena, from Peterborough, was an Advertising and Digital Marketing Foundation student at the uni.

Vice chancellor Anne-Marie Kilday said: “His fellow students and all staff at the University of Northampton are devastated by this news.”

Four people, two men aged 19 and two 18-year-old women were arrested in connection with the death.

They have since been released on bail.

Three men aged 19, one man, 18, and one woman, 19 remain in custody, say police.

Det Insp Simon Barnes from Northamptonshire Police said: “This continues to be an exceptionally fast-paced investigation with detectives following multiple lines of enquiry in order to piece together the events which led to the death of this young man. “
