I’m a savvy shopper – there’s an exact time to hit supermarkets from Sainsbury’s to Asda to bag yellow sticker bargains
ANYONE would be lying if they said they didn’t enjoy picking up a yellow sticker bargain in their local supermarket.
But did you know that there is a different time that each popular chain slashes their prices?

So whether you’re heading to Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose – or any other store in between – you’ll need to be mindful of when you hit the aisles.
Luckily, social media phenomenon Mad About Money has done all the hard work and research so that you don’t have to.
And the woman who runs the account, which shares money-saving tips and how to bag bigger discounts via @madaboutmoney, has shared them all in her latest video.
Mad About Money asked: “When is the best time to get yellow sticker bargains? Let’s go!”
She then went into her list, as she told her 33.5k followers to take note of the varying discount schedules and how to make the most of them.
She said: “So let’s start with Sainsbury’s. Sainsbury’s reductions start at 5pm.
“They go all the way through to 7pm, and they’ve also just started to trial £2 fruit and veg boxes.”
Next on her helpful list was Waitrose, Asda and Morrisons, which all have different rules.
She continued: “Waitrose starts their reductions around 2 hours before the store closes, [so] you need to check your local store for times.
“Asda starts flashing their prices at around 7pm.
“Morrisons you can bag a bargain first thing in the morning, but they do start their reductions at around 3pm, with final reductions between 5pm and 7pm.”
Mad About Money also lifted the lid on popular discount stores Aldi and Lidl, which both follow the same format.
She explained: “The best times for Lidl and Aldi are first thing in the morning.
“But if you go after lunch you can likely pick up something from the lunch time rush.”
Meanwhile, she claimed that “the most popular time for M&S is around 4pm.”
The social media user went on to say: “Tesco start their reductions first thing in the morning by around 10%.
“By 2pm, they’ve gone up to about 30% and then moving forward later on in the day around 7pm, you’re looking at 90% reductions.”
However, if you can’t see any yellow sticker reductions at the above times, Mad About Money said it’s important to stop someone who works there.
She revealed: “Bear in mind that a lot of supermarkets do keep reduced to clear stuff out the back.
“The reason they do this is to avoid rushes and avoid people piling into each other. So if there’s nothing on the shelf, ask!”
But Mad About Money didn’t just have supermarket tips up her sleeve.
She also provided another top tip on how to save money on food in the future.
She revealed: “If you don’t have any success with yellow sticker shopping, check out the Olio app.
“There’s loads of free bargains that you can get, and you can also give away your food waste if it’s about to turn.”
