Five ways to enter free competitions & take advantage of them
ENTERING competitions or “comping” is a side hustle for many – but are you taking full advantage of it?
Here’s how you can help yourself be on prize form . . . .

TIME IT RIGHT: A few hours of dedicated competition time per day will give you the best chance to win.
Set a target and stick to it — compers suggest ten to 30 entries per day.
The key is to be consistent and persistent.
GO PRO: Create a new email address, just for competitions.
This will help you keep an eye on the comps entered and let you clearly see if a “win” notification comes through.
Make the most of auto-fill options via your internet browser.
It allows for quicker entry time, so you can enter more.
STAY ALERT: Set up Google alerts for the words “win” and “prize” so you’re in the know when new competitions launch.
Also, bookmark forums such as the Moneysavingexpert competitions one.
Add to your chances by joining one of the many Facebook groups for compers, such as “Competition UK”.
Always check thesun.co.uk/competitions for our latest, too.
GO THE EXTRA MILE: Look out for competitions that require a skill or extra effort.
The comps that need a written answer or want you to submit an image usually end up having less entries, so the odds of you winning are higher.
Sign up for newsletters from brands you love and scour them for extra little competitions that can be tucked away at the bottom of the emails.
When supermarket shopping, look out for on-pack promotions that are often missed.
Currently, you could win a cruise when buying selected bottles of Filippo Berio olive oil, or be in with the chance to win one of 40 Ooni pizza ovens when buying selected Charlie Bigham’s ready meals.
STAY ON TRACK: Track your entries with a spreadsheet or notepad.
It’s a handy way to see what you’ve entered and will keep you motivated.
