Formal identification is yet to take place but Jamie’s family are being supported by specialist officers and enquiries are ongoing.
A spokesperson told Wales Online: “South Wales Police can confirm a body has been found in woodland in Pentwyn, Cardiff.
“Police were called at 10.42am today (Sunday, March 12) following the discovery by a community search party looking for long-term missing man, Jamie Moreno.”
The dad was 48 when he disappeared after leaving his house on The Parade, in Roath, Cardiff, around lunchtime on March 23, 2020.
He is thought to have gone on a walk – the same day lockdown was announced – but he never returned.
Daughter Tia, then 19, told how she had been at her dad’s house the day he vanished.
Speaking to The Cardiffian last month, she said: “We were there for about an hour or so. I said I would be back over tomorrow.
“I left a macaroni cheese and thought I could have it the next day. He said, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’.”
Her sister Georgia, then 19 and living with Jamie, returned around an hour-and-a-half later but her dad was gone.
Jamie was last seen on CCTV in Llanedeyrn later that afternoon.
His heartbroken family say he knew the north Cardiff area “like the back of his hand”.
The family desperately sought answers for their dad over three long years – describing his disappearance as out of character.
Unable to find him, the family pleaded: Tia and sister Georgia, then 19, and their family said: “We don’t want to lose you.
“Please come home so that we can face whatever it is you are going through together.”
In February, friends and family decided to organise a fresh search for Jamie in Llanedeyrn.
Just a few hours after starting their new search on Sunday, a body was found.
